Ḥāshiyat al-Ṣabbān ʻalá Jamʻ al-jawāmiʻ, [1876] / li-Muḥammad ibn ʻAlī al-Ṣabbān.

Manuscript on Islamic law by Muḥammad ibn ʻAlī al-Ṣabbān (d. 1791 or 2), a prolific Egyptian Shafiʻī scholar from Cairo, being marginalia on the introdoction to Jamʻ al-jawāmiʻ fī al-uṣūl by Tāj al-Dīn ʻAbd al-Wahhāb ibn ʻAlī al-Subkī (ca. 1327-1370), an Egyptian Shafiʻī scholar from the city of Subk, Egypt who moved to Syria and was appointed Qadī al-quḍah (Grand muftī) of Damascus but was opposed by fellow scholars, accused of heresy, deposed and sent back to Egypt in chains. He died in the plague after his return to Damascus. Copied by Muḥammad ʻAlāʼ al-Dīn al-Khuṣūṣī on Tuesday, 4 Rajab, 1293 H (26 July, 1876), probably in Damascus, Syria.
